What is needed to ensure that Central Germany remains an attractive media hub in the future? Invited guests from the film and television industry discussed this at the second Central German Industry Summit at the STUDIOPARK KinderMedienZentrum in Erfurt.
In attendance were representatives from broadcasters, funding bodies, state chancelleries and festivals, as well as filmmakers from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia – and, of course, us.
The event focused on the current situation and future of Central Germany as a media hub, with four key themes shaping the day’s proceedings:
🎬 Continuity of production in the region
✨ The appeal of Central Germany as a media hub
🤝🏻 New collaborations & innovations
👍🏻 Highlighting regional diversity & acceptance of public service broadcasting
Through a series of rotating discussion rounds, an in-depth exchange took place on the four topics from various perspectives. This not only yielded new insights but also generated many exciting ideas and approaches for the region. You’ll be able to read about these in the coming weeks.
For us, the event demonstrated once again that many of the concerns of media professionals in Thuringia are shared by their industry colleagues in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Together, we can work to strengthen Central Germany as a media hub – so that, ultimately, everyone benefits.
The 2026 Industry Summit was organised by the working group “Film and Media Associations of Central Germany”, which, in addition to MENT, comprises AG DOK Ost, AG Animationsfilm, AG Kurzfilm, the MFFV, the Saxony Film Association, as well as freelance producers and filmmakers.
